SKETCH CLUB 2013

The following acts competed in Best New Sketch Act 2013.

Heat 1. McNeil & Pamphilon, Three Half Pints, Revan & Fennell, Sad Faces, Allnutt & Simpson. Judges: Jack Cheshire (Producer, BBC Comedy), Ben Caudell (Creative Director, Zeppotron Productions), Dave Cohen (Perrier Award nominee, co-founder of the Comedy Store Players and award-winning BBC comedy scriptwriter), Rosie Wilby (Funny Women Finalist). Winners: Revan & Fennell. Runners-Up: McNeil & Pamphilon.

Heat 2. Staple/face, Four Screws Loose, Beasts, Short & Curly, Stephanie Jory, Hannah & Barri. Judges: Julia Chamberlain (Producer, So You Think You’re Funny), Phillippa Fordham (sketch writer/performer, BBC Radio 4), Dave Cohen (Perrier Award nominee, co-founder of the Comedy Store Players), Brian West (Co-Producer Sketch Club, former comedy producer Channel 4, sketch scriptwriter Channel 5, Senior Producer BBC Comedy online, and lecturer in comedy writing at South Bank University.) Winners: Staple/face. Runners-Up: Short & Curly.

Heat 3. Trodd en Bratt, The Awkward Silence, Twins, Gerardine Coyne, Spoon, Heffernan & Fletcher. Judges: Julia Chamberlain (Producer, So You Think You’re Funny), Ben Caudell (Creative Director, Zeppotron Productions), Katy Koren (Gilded Balloon), Dave Cohen (Perrier Award nominee, co-founder of the Comedy Store Players).
Winner: Gerardine Coyne. Runners-up: Trodd en Bratt, Heffernan & Fletcher.

Heat 4. The Real MacGuffins, That Pair, Steve Palace, Simply the Jest, The Humour League, Rory & Tim. Judges: Ivor Baddiel, (Writer, The X-Factor, National Television Awards), Dave Cohen (Perrier Award nominee, co-founder of the Comedy Store Players), Feri Tezcan (E4’s School of Comedy, ITV’s Katy Brand Show). Winners: The Real MacGuffins (pictured). Runners-Up: Rory & Tim

Heat 5. Muju, Giraffe, Ladies Live Longer, Beth Vyse, John Dredge, KWAT. Judges: Peter Grahame Walsingham (Comedy Promoter/Booker, Downstairs at the Kings Head), Phillippa Fordham (Comedy writer/performer, BBC Radio 4), Simon Lipson (Comedy writer, actor, BBC’s Dead Ringers & Loose Ends.) Winners: Ladies Live Longer. Runners Up: KWAT.

Heat 6. In Cahoots. Mixed Doubles, Frimston & Rowett, Gein’s Family Gift Shop, The One-Eyed Men. Judges: Julia Chamberlain (Producer, So You Think You’re Funny), Ben Caudell (Creative Director, Zeppotron Productions), Brian West, (Producer, Sketch Club, former Channel 4 comedy producer/scriptwriter). Winners: Mixed Doubles (pictured above left). Runners Up: Gein’s Family Gift Shop
