Lead Pencil (pictured) are Louise Beresford, Maddie Rice and Dave Bibby – a stylish comedy group that perform weird, observational sketches with a colourful twist. Art Attack meets Fargo.
This Glorious Monster are Martin Collins, Alex Finch, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill and Adam Loxley, who have been working together for 18 months. They describe their work as “subversive comedy celebrating the darker side of the human condition”.
Runners up were high energy sketch team Mugging Chickens.
Heat three’s qualifiers join Massive Dad, UnderDogs, Fun Bags and Hennessy & Friends in the final which is on Monday 18th of May at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh.

Heat 3 judges: Simon Lipson (Comedy writer/performer, BBC Radio), Tom Barrie, (Comedy Promoter/Venue Director The Art House), Jack Cheshire (BBC comedy development producer).
Fun Bags are Jo Burke, Gemma Layton and Jacqui Curran who have already bagged semi final spots in competitions including So You Think You’re Funny and Funny Women.
Hennessy & Friends are Miranda Hennessy, David Seymour and Steven Shapland whose sense of humour is dark to say the least. Congrats to both winning groups.
Runners up on the night were surreal and funny sketch team Legion of Doom. The final of BNSA2014 is at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh on Monday 18 August.
Massive Dad are Tessa Coates, Stevie Martin and Liz Smith. They met at Durham University where they performed performed in the Revue doing sketch comedy.
The UnderDogs are Kate Roxburgh and Shae Kuehlmann (pictured). The girls met in Los Angeles whilst touring with a Shakespeare Company before turning to comedy and forming their own sketch team.
You can still apply to take part in Sketch Club’s Best New Sketch Act 2014. Still a few places left. Email us at the above address telling us a bit about your sketch team and including a link to at least one video example of your writing and performing. This year there are 3 qualifying heats in London on 25 March, 27 May and 17 June 2014. The final is at the Gilded Balloon in August 2014, and the winning act will be offered a full three week Edinburgh run in 2015.
